WOYWW #144

Good morning all,
Wednesday has rolled along as it always does, it never changes but always catches us by surprise...... As always, Julia at Stamping Ground is the hostess for this mahoosive blog hop that we all love and cherish and are hopelessly addicted to too!
Here is my desk for you this week. Firstly the aeroplane shot.
All the usual bits and pieces are there. I've had to put my distress inks back; I've come to the conclusion that whatever I do they live there and I'm too used to it so everything else just doesn't feel right!
Now the colour is weird on these, I can promise you that these canvas flowers are NOT so orange IRL! They are on a tag and the tiny little tin is going to form part of this tag, still working on the details in my mind though!
Then this is the latest page in my art journal, the background is done with acrylic paints and the new Dyan Reavely stencils. The stamps are Celtic mythology ones from The Stamp Man. (and I drew the mountain for the dragon to sit on) I was just thinking about how we all have issues and problems that we have to deal with and that these are our Dragons...... but we can triumph over them and the page just developed from that. I like the way it ended up though, there are some lovely textures from the paint.
This last picture has some spare flowers; a flop paint technique and that interesting piece on the left is Tyvek, it does interesting things when you heat it so I was just having a little play! So there you have my little corner of creative paradise this week. I look forward to popping round to yours; though I'm busy preparing for Saturdays workshop and I have an appointment with a blowtorch too so I may not get round too many this week.

Hi Neil,

The flowers look wonderful - very cool. I like how the dragon on top of the mountain came out and what it means. You are right, we all have those things that nag -- dragons, demons, monkeys on our backs. Need to let go.

Happy WOYWW

LoVe the "orange" flowers whatever colour they are IRL (just learnt that one!!!!) Can't wait to see your finished tag. LoVe the airplane shot too ... I am imagining all sorts of things as I wonder how you took it. I just mentioned to hubby that the person who inspired me to paint on embossed acetate is doing things with a blowtorch and before I'd got the words out he issued a stern "NO!!!!" Probably very wise. Happy Creating and Happy WOYWWing too! Debbie #54 xXx

Love the aerial shot. Did you stand on a very, very big chair or have you rigged up a harness from the ceiling? Mmm... not sure you want to answer that one.

Love the desk as always and it reminded me I have some Tyvek tucked away somewhere. I inked and heated into it into holes then didn't know what to do with it.

I just love your desk Neil, think I could live in your crafty shed! Beautiful tag in the making and I had no idea you could do that to tyvek, going to start pulling it off my house now, lol! As to the C***** cards, I make them on and off all year, saves the panic closer to the date!

I love your desk - it's always so interesting - always something creative and amazing happening there. Your journal pages have just blown me away... astounding!

I'd almost forgotten about Tyvek. I remember playing with that a few years back. I'm sure I still have some sheets in my craft room somewhere buried away. You've motivated me to go and dig it out. Love your art journal pages. Impressed with the mountain drawing. What a talented guy you are. The tag is AWESOME! No other word does it justice. Love how you blend the colours. I always enjoy visiting your blog. Oh & does the blow torch involve masking tape by any chance? lol :) Pxx

Creative paradise indeed! Don't blame you about the the D.Inks, after all, you have to be entirely comfy when in full swing! I like the tin on the tag idea...unsurprisingly, have no ideas to offer for it!

Love your work desk! I happen to like a rusty rustic orange look so the flowers look good on my computer. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the tin! Warmly, Tracy #96

I realize I am really late getting here, especially since I am #2. But I have had a terrible time keeping my computer running today. Seems it wants to shut down after I visit one blog. I thought the flowers were rusty metal when I saw them.

Happy WOYWW.

I just blogged WOYWW about my canvas flowers I cut from a $2.00 canvas apron. I need to "do something" to finish them.
How do you do that lovely technique? Is that the distress inks or???
I am new to stamping so don't know how to accomplish this look!

Loved your desk this week!
