Alarm Bells are a ringing

Hi there friends
I thought I'd share this project with you today as it's been simmering away in the background for a while now and I just didn't get it finished till today.
Ever since I saw that Tim had brought out his clock blanks I WANTED/NEEDED to get one (or similar) to play with; and finally I did. I've wanted to create a "masculine" project for a while now using no colour and this was the perfect object to use.
So over the last few weeks I've been working on and off as I had a moment and this is the end result. (I apologise in advance for the photography, almost impossible to get a decent picture.)

I began by covering the body and bells with Ranger's Metal Foil; making sure that I got lots of lovely wrinkles along the way so that when I added some paint it would highlight and add textural interest. As you can get a glimpse of on the bells, it did! I covered everything with Studio black acrylic and wiped off till I was happy with the effect. I've used Tim's Time Travelers, Steampunk stamps as well as the sentiment stamp too (Can't remember what plate it's from)
I stamped the two characters onto card in black Archival ink and cut out. I cut out the circle of card for the back too and coloured it with Black Soot Distress Ink before stamping the blueprint from Steampunk over it. The characters were too white but I didn't want to add colour so I pressed the Black Soot pad onto my craft sheet and, along with some Weathered Wood Distress Stain added to the sheet too, coloured them in to create lovely shades of grey which were in keeping with my theme (No, ladies, not 50 shades, only about 3...)
Though it just refuses to show up properly in the pictures, I stamped the cogs from Time Travelers onto the glass and added some clear embossing powder and heated carefully. I added a couple of cogs, well one only cut in half. They were cut from silver card, sanded and inked to age a bit.
From this photo you can get a better idea of the texture of the painted metal.
You should also just see the sentiment on the left, that was stamped onto card in black archival ink, coloured with some ink and a layer of Rock Candy added onto the top. When that had dried I swiped some Black Soot Distress Paint over and wiped off, adding some water as I went to get as much off as I could from the surface.
So there it is; a black and white "clock" The sentiment says "It's never too late to find out who you want to be" which I though was appropriate as it ties in with the time theme!

Hope you like it.
I'm entering this into Simon Says Stamp and Show where the theme this week is Anything Goes.

Take care, enjoy the rest of the day, and to all my family and friends in the USA, Happy 4th of July.
