Transfer class at The Craft Barn

Good morning friends,
I hope you had a great weekend. I did; spending some time just wandering with my wife on Saturday, exploring places and then yesterday I taught a class at The Craft Barn. We explored various transfer techniques using what I consider to be store cupboards essentials rather than having to get specialist stuff.
We spent the morning trying out and practicing the techniques before moving on to creating this

We used different layers of paint and sandpaper to age and distress the unit before adding stamped details
I love these flowers, though they were the most fiddly of things to do!
I love the aged, vintage feel that the transfers give, and adding details with inks also creates a lovely vintage effect.

Hope you have  great day too. I'll be back just now with an exciting announcement (Exciting for me, at least!)

I would have loved this class. Your project is so unique and love the image. I've several "Vintage" cupboards similar to this, waiting for new life. I've done the paint/aged look so will have to decoupage some fav images.
Thanks for sharing, you always intrigue my fancy with your projects.
Have a fun creative week

Hi Neil
this is a great little project and it does look very vintage with all the distressing and layers.
Is there any chance you could share the transfer detail with us here on your blog?

I love this, Neil. After we have moved house I am setting up a brand new ARTHaven studio and in it will be my parents' old music cabinet - it has quite a lot of narrow drawers whose fronts fold down when you open them - ideal for storing paper (12x12 included). At present it's rather plain and boring, with mid-brown polish, and I was thinking of painting and distressing it. Having seen this gorgeous project of yours, I think I shall do more than just paint it - adding some transfers and stamping will transform it! I love the soft, subtle, vintage look. Excellent work.
