Halloween journal page

Good morning folks.
It's been Halloween over at The Craft Barn blog this week and today I've this journal page to share with you.
The background is done with paints and pastes and I love the deep reds. I'd done the background a while ago and didn't know what to do with it. Then Tim's Apothecary stamps arrived and the question was answered!
A lovely black feather sets the tone nicely. I placed it just above the sentiment to look as if it was written with the feather.
I stamped the skull onto card and wrinkled it up pressed it flat and used distress ink to catch the creases; spritzed with water and ironed flat. It was attached to the page on 3 sides creating a picket for a tag.
The little bag was filled with alcohol ink. The label was stamped onto card and aged with distress inks before gluing to the bag and adding to the page. The button was from a flea market.

Do hop on over to The Craft Barn blog HERE too where in addition to this Izzy has an amazing skull she's done!

Materials used

Americana True Red and Deep Midnight Blue acrylic paints.
Inka Gold - Old Silver
Stampers Anonymous - Apothecary stamp set
Distress inks - Walnut Stain, Black Soot and Forest Moss
Black archival ink.

Another superb art journal page Neil. Love the block of red that hits you straight away and the addition of a feather to go with the skull design. Definitely puts one in mind od Edgar Allen Poe. Have a great weekend. Pxx

Wonderful! Love that rich red background and the skull looks eerily good tacked down like that.
