Book

Good morning everyone
I hope you are managing to get in some creative time this weekend. I'm having a busy one as I taught a book class at The Craft Barn on Friday and I'm heading off there again this morning to teach my Doorway to the Imagination class.
So I thought I'd share the book we made on Friday
Starting from scratch; we began by discussing the basics of bookmaking and then it was needles out as we began to create signatures and sew them together.....possibly not everyone's favourite part of the day but you can't have a book without any pages inside, can you?
The covers were made up by creating a random patchwork of embossed designs before adding the layers of colour and shimmer.
The endpapers of the book were created from stamped and inked card too before the book was assembled and bound.
Lastly the final touch, Feathers from Africa, a little face and some bark creates an unusual cover embellishment too.
As always, it was a great class, everyone's books looking so different and fabulous so thank you ladies for a great day.

Hope you all squeeze in some creativity today, wherever you are!

...gorgeous!...clever idea to do a collage of embossed pieces, really like that and it makes the cover of this book substantial with great texture, clever use of the bark too (i have some piece's from a silver birch and have been waiting to use them, took them off firewood logs) gorgeous inky pages too..superb make as always Neil...Mel :)
Wish I lived round the corner I'd be at the Barn every week for these techniques but I do hope to get up next weekend for the Extravaganser, so will come and say hello, hope to meet up with Alison Hall too :)

Oh how I wish I could have been there Neil. Your book looks like a masterpiece. I created my first little book for a challenge this week and I stitched all the pages too. Maybe a larger one would be easier. Hugs Rita xxx

Great book and makes me thinking about all my unused cuttlebug folders. Love the patchwork - cover and your stylish bark embellie (:o)

Love the texture and muted shades of this piece. Hate feathers (mad I know but perhaps bordering on a phobia!!) but they do look gorgeous here.
