Good morning friends.
Today I thought I'd share a simple box that I altered last week. It began life as a box of toiletries and once the toiletries had been used I looked at the box and thought; this is too good and sturdy to toss in the bin.
I didn't take step by step pics but here it is anyway.
I painted the whole box with Americana paint in green and brown to cover up the original rather vivid orange......When that was dry I then covered the box with Tim Holtz Tissue paper and left to dry. I then added some texture to the surface with my Winged Pattern Mask and Dreamweaver's Pearlescent paste. Once that had dried overnight I added more layers of Paint, This time I used Tim Holtz Distress Paint and wiped it down with a cloth to ensure the pattern still showed through.
I added some of DecoArt's One Step Crackle to the butterfly and left it to dry. Once everything was dry I sealed everything with DecoArt Faux Finishing Medium.
I kept the surface embellishment simple and just added the word band with a bit of ribbon.
Inside I lined the box with Docraft Madame Payroud paper. (I love this paper!)
The box has a magnetic fastening flap so everything stays nice and neatly closed.
To finish, I edged the box with DecoArt metallic Lustre in gold to add a bit more sparkle to complement the shimmer that can still be seen on the paste textured areas.
By now this box has winged its way over to SA with my sister and I hope she enjoys using it as much as I enjoyed making it.
