Gelli Plate Journal

Good afternoon friends
I trust that this finds you well. (Long post warning by the way)
Today I thought I'd share my latest addiction with you - the Gelli Plate.... Yes, I know, I'm arriving late to the party, what can I say, but I'm here now and making up for lost time!
I will say, that when this first started popping up here there and everywhere, a friend brought one around for me to have a play with. Well, to be honest, I had a go and got bored very quickly so never actually bothered more with it. I kind of picked it up again a few weeks and voila, I was hooked. For some reason everything just clicked into place for me and I had a blast. So, some of my first results were these

Well, these are the ones I like the most, obviously, some don't quite work but I have learnt that you can always add another layer...... once I got the feel for which paints work the best for me and how to layer up to get the effect I was looking for I was away. As an art journaler these are perfect springboards for pages and I decided to make myself a "Gelli Journal" using my Geometric Book Cover kit and this is the result.

 This is the front, each layer of the cover is made up by adhering different Gelli prints to the chipboard elements.  Instead of using the spine in the kit though, I cut an extra wide spine from chipboard to which I attached a Tim Holtz ring binder.

 I assembled and glued the base covers and large spine with binding cloth then glued the smaller elements in place.

 When that was dry, I took the original spine and covered it with a Gelli print and glued it to the centre of the spine to break up the rather wide piece of cloth. I punched a couple of holes with my Crop o dile and attached this old bracelet to it with a jump ring.

 This is the back of the journal. All assembled from the same or similar toned prints as the front.

 Now I have a journal folder, ready to fill with printed pages ready to develop and journal........As you can see, I have already started to fill it. I'll save most of those for another day to save your eyes from glazing over

But, this is the inside, I pulled a print, cut and glued it to the inside front and back covers and you can see the first page.......
