Cutlery tray; what cutlery tray?

Hi there friends
How are you are doing? I'm chasing my tail again here getting class samples, and trying to get my planning sorted out. Not very successfully but in among all that I am trying to have some me time to create too. One thing I have been having a good time altering is this "cutlery tray" which I picked up from The Craft Barn recently

Cutlery box

The thing that really appealed to me was the separate compartments.  As you can imagine, it no longer looks like this but rather like this.........

To begin I removed the existing wooden knobs and I used my new favourite paper and adhesive fabric; the new Docrafts Madame Payroud range. It is simply gorgeous and I love every single sheet of cardstock in the pack..
The sides have been covered in the adhesive fabric. For the top I used a single piece of 12 x 12 card from the pack and glued it over all the doors. When it was dry I cut out the apertures and glued them on top of the glass. Metal foil tape was used to add detail to the edges. Textured with a texture wheel and coloured with alcohol inks.
I added some distressing with inks, water and Perfect Pearls. To embellish I used a large key from That Craft Place, some flowers and metal leaves.
The smaller flowers are from Prima, the larger one made from the tattered floral die and Kraft Glassine.
I added a clasp to secure each compartment which looks cool and is practical too.
Inside I covered each compartment with a different sheet of card and also the inside of the doors too. Any exposed wooden edges were painted with Americana Raw Umber paint.
Then, I could not resist adding these resin cast insects to each compartment ! I thought they would give an unexpected quirkiness........
I used triple thick gloss to glue them in place.
Then, a last look at the inside lids. Aren't those papers fantastic. Anyway, this was a fun project to do and I pleased with end result.
I'd like to enter this into the Simon Says Stamp challenge where they have an anything goes week.
Hope you like it and hope you have a great evening too.

Wow, Neil this is just totally awe inspiring, I love it, I bet that when I get to the Craft Barn online that they won't have any of those trays left, I would like to have a go myself, I have the Madame Payraud papers and some of the embellishment in the collection too, it's a great set from Do-crafts who just seem to get better and better. I really like this and have gained so much inspiration from it. Thank you.

Wow! This project is absolutely incredible! I was blown away by what you were able to do from the first picture through the last! A remarkable transformation that obviously took some talented hands to manage! You turned the ordinary into the extraordinary and I did love the addition of the resin bugs. This piece is both whimsical and elegant. Thank you so much for sharing it with us for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. You definitely nailed the "Anything Goes" theme!
