Book time...

Hi there friends.
Well, it's been a reasonably productive day in the Crafty Man Cave today, with quite a few DT projects done, and even made a start on something for a Christmas swap too.
So to reward myself I decided to try out an idea for a little book which I'd had wandering the recesses of my mind for a while....
I had fun doing this and love how it turned out. The photographs don't really do it justice but hopefully you can get the idea. I began by cutting 2 pieces of mountboard  slightly larger than A6 and used embossing ink and 3 layers of clear UTEE and stamped into it with my Fantasy Stamp. ( My stamps are available from The Artistic Stamper HERE if you are interested too.)
I was slightly concerned that I would not get a decent impression in the UTEE because of the size and, in one sense, there were areas that the UTEE had cooled and hardened too much. But after I went over everything with a couple of DecoArt's Metallic Lustres you can see plenty of texture so that made me happy!
I stamped the same image over the cover in black Archival ink which added the detail back in over some of the flatter areas. I used a face I moulded a while ago as a cover embellishment. It was attached to the cover with hot glue and some guinea fowl feathers behind.
I used some natural binding cloth for the spine.
This is the back cover. Done exactly the same way as the front cover. One of the things I really like is the way that the UTEE creates almost like a ridge frame all around the image.

I used the same image for the end papers inside the front and back of the book. So, just as a treat, another little sketch book......
Hope you enjoyed it. I do love working with layers of UTEE and this is one of the largest pieces that I've done and I think that this is probably about as large a piece as you can work with when layering and stamping into it as it was a bit of a struggle to keep most of it soft enough to stamp into!

Have yourselves a great evening.

Super Neil! It reminded me of the beautiful Angel you sent me last year in the swap. You should make more and wouldn't the angel be a great workshop too.!?!
