Altered book page

Good morning everyone.
Firstly a big welcome to all my new followers; I'm so grateful you have decided to accompany me on my creative journey!
This weekend has seen me marching on with some larger projects. Now I do enjoy doing them but they do take longer to complete so while I am waiting for things to dry (Or I get a bit bored and need a break!) I usually do some smaller quick things or work in my journals.
One of the things I have on the go is an altered art book and today thought I'd share a page from this that I finished yesterday.

What I've been doing to start with is cover each page with paint; covering up most of the page and just leaving hints of the picture underneath or leaving it fairly clear if I like the image. This page has been covered up with Studio paint in green before using the back of a paintbrush to scrape away giving some lovely highlights and textures. When dry I stamped the figures in black. (Dina Wakely) and coloured them with Dyan Reavely's inks.
I've also used one of Dyan's masks and black ink to add the black borders round the top section of the page in both positive and negative.
If you look along the top section of this page you can see the image of a warrior peeking through the paint from the original page of the book. This is my "giant" and was the inspiration for the words.
I've used Tim Holtz' Distress marker to add linear details too.
Because of the textured nature of this book and because I've made pockets etc from other pages I don't always get a clear image with stamping; but I like this effect as to me it's a bit more "arty"! and adds to the feel of the figures coming out of the past and moving towards the future.

The journalling reads " It is important to keep looking forward in life, don't let the giants from the past keep you from looking out for good things in your future."

Hope you like it and that today is the start of a lovely and creative week for you all.

Another wonderful page Neil. Love it's arty style. I really like how you've used the Dina Wakely stamps. There's something ethereal about the images, almost ghostly as they blend in and out of your background. Have a great week. Pxx

Really love your shadowy figures, they do seem to be coming from the past. I like when stamps aren't uniform s it adds to the artwork. The sentiment is a very powerful and positive statement. Love it all.
