Goodly morning peeps
Hope this finds you well. This morning sees the start of a new part of my journey as I am able to announce that I have been invited by Paula to join her DT over at A Little Bit Crafty (Paula Holifield Crafts) A monthly challenge blog with lots of fabulous sponsors and prizes. The themes are nice and varied and I would love to see you join in. I look forward to sharing my projects with you and if they inspire you in any way I will be very happy!
Today is my first project and kicking off; the theme for March is: Are we there yet?
I decided to take it literally and created this little travel journal/sketchbook.
I began by covering the book with self adhesive fabric from Docrafts (I love this stuff!) This one has images of tape measures and is really cool.
I took one of the vintage labels from the Docrafts Madame Payroud collection and distressed the edges using a Tim Holtz Distressing tool and inked the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress ink. The sentiment is generated using the little alphabet letters (also Madam Payroud).
Before sticking the label to the front of the journal I decided I wanted some way of keeping it closed so I took a vintage tape measure long enough to go around the book with a decent overhang. I punched holes with my Crop-o-dile and added a Tim Holtz hitch fastener to the back piece and used Tim's Hole Reinforcers to add strength to the front (one on both sides of the tape) I attached this to the book closer to the top with double sided tape as seen.
The label was then glued in place and to seal it, everything was covered with DecoArt Faux Finishing Medium to give a waterproof protection.
So now I have a little travel sketchbook for when I'm on the road. You can hook a pen or pencil into the overhang of the fastener and you are ready to go.
The link to the challenge is HERE and I'd love to see you over there!
Take care and have yourselves a fun and creative weekend.....

Hi Neil, I love this little travel sketchbook, the saying reminds me of hot summers in the back of the car with my brothers and at least one of us always said that hahaha!

Congrats on your new DT spot and what a delicious make to kick off with. Love the frame on the front panel, and the tape measures are very cool... are they measuring whether we're there yet?!
