Just pottering and some news

Good afternoon friends.
I've not done much crafting "just because"  recently with one thing and another so today I thought I'd sit myself down for a little me time to create a couple of tags so I could try out a couple of new stamps and stuff.
This is the result.
Like I said, was was just pottering so I had no end result in mind but I did enjoy myself and that's the important thing.
There is a delightful craft shop in Eastbourne called That Craft Place and most of the stamps that I used on these tags come from their own range. The background on this tag was done with a fabulous "faded" gears stamp which I stamped randomly with plum and coffee archival inks and blended Distress Inks over. It really gives an amazing texture. The Art sentiment is also from there and the numbers too.
You can see it a bit better here. The tree is from Tim Holtz and has been inked in Distress, water stamped and some Distress Stickles added. I mounted the smaller tag onto a larger one that has been cut with an on the edge die from Tim and coloured with Distress paint

This next tag has been inked with Dylusions. The main sentiment is stamped in plum archival and I overstamped after without cleaning the stamp to get subtle depth over the background. I drew the heart and edged the tag with my hatched border stamp. I added some lace to the bottom and mounted it onto a larger tag.
What do you think of the flower? I got some of this amazing stuff at the shop (can't remember what it is called!) in copper, gold and silver. It is really thin and crinkles up but is actually very strong. I was experimenting with it and die cut and made about 8 of these flowers. Yes, pretty fiddly but worth it I think especially because you can be pretty rough with it and the petals don't tear off! I'm looking forward to experimenting more with it as I am curious to see how it works with Alcohol inks too. One thing I did discover, it doesn't like heat guns.........
So, if you are in the Eastbourne area, do pop in, there are lots of amazing goodies and you are sure of a warm welcome from Lisa and Danny.

I'm also excited to tell you that I will be there on Sunday 1 December all day demoing lots of inky painty techniques so do make a date and come to visit!
I'm also really excited to tell you that I'll be teaching 4 Art Journaling classes there starting in March next year. Yes I know it's early warning but half the places have been booked already !
There'll be more details available on the demo day but in brief we'll be starting by making a loose leaf journal in class one and over the next 3 sessions exploring various techniques to get you going on your own creative journey. Though the focus is around art journaling the techniques covered will work for card making, scrapbooking and mixed media too. This has been a very popular series of classes and lots of fun.

You can contact the shop on 01323 301226

The address is 32 Pevensey Road, Eastbourne, BN21 3HP

Right, I'd better be off, the delivery man has just knocked on my door with a lovely large box of DecoArt goodies .....

Both tags are fab, Neil! Love the new crinkly metallic paper. And pink lace! Really like the tree tag. Pretty cool for just pottering around.

Love the tags... you are back with a creative vengeance after your lull. We all seem to have been otherwise engaged for a while.
Good luck with your new classes. Wouldn't it be great if I could get there for one of them during one of my Brighton trips..... now there's an idea!!!
