Hi there
Over at Studio L3 Linda has sent us over to Ranger to discover Resist and Distress. The link is HERE so go take a look and join in the fun.
Here is my tag for this week. (I have decided to do a tag each time so I will build up a nice sample pack of techniques....
I have to confess that I did struggle a bit with this technique. I think I overworked a couple of my first attempts but then I slowed down and I think I have the hang of it now! So don't give up!
I stamped the resist onto the tag and left to dry, then it was onto the inking. I used aged mahogony and frayed burlap to ink and reveal the magic dragonflies.
I cut a couple of masks and then overstamped the script in brown stazon. Added the sentiment. I then added some clear embossing to the edges and bronze UTEE which I think works well with the colours
I then stamped a couple of dragonflies onto one of the reject tags, cut them out and added to the tag with a bit of curling to add dimension.
As always, these techniques are from Tim Holtz. The master of Distress and grunge!
Hope you give it a go, it's actually great fun and the results are great.
Be blessed in your art today.
Neel your tag turned out beautiful . Love all the brown tones and that dragonfly is to die for .

Fantastic tag Neil! I love the colors as well and the dragonflies are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteNeil--As always, another fabulous tag. The color scheme is amazing. I love the embossing around the edges--that's such a fun way to finish your tag with that metallic bronze! I've had a hard time finding the UTEE in colors around here. Glad you were able to join in this week! God bless, Lisa
ReplyDeleteOnce again beautiful! You are so inspiring!

ReplyDeleteStunning! You have inspired me to get off the computer and go into the craft room!
ReplyDeleteAh there you go! You've changed it again! It looks great, yes, I like everything so I can 'see' it too. One reason why I don't like reorganising, mainly because I forget where the new 'place'is for my 'stuff' Love all your inkiness...and the mouse and what I did? Um...no, I hope not!!

Those dragonflies are stunning. Aged mahogany is my current favourite di at the moment! Glad you slowed down to get this right. It is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love this!! Great colors, and using the dragonfly over it's resist was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great tag. Thye dragon flies are outstanding. I think I going to have to scrape lift your bronze edge technique, if that's ok with you. Cheers
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tag. Love the colours and textures.

Your art is gorgeous. You did a great job on this technique. How fun that you could use your 'rejects' to make it even better.
ReplyDeleteThis is, in a word, BREATHTAKING! Neil, you have such an eye for color and design, and this tag is absolutely brilliant. The resist is perfect, the colors are warm and rich, and the layout is awesome. That's my favorite way to use UTEE, too-- the texture is just divine.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're doing the GM challenges!!!
Fantastic! The colors are gorgeous!
