Simon says Stamp Challenge and Studio L3 CCC challenge 31

The compendium of Curiosities challenge over at Studio L3 is one of my favourite techniques. I have used it a lot so I was pleased to see it. It's on page 41 of the compendium. I have also done my project this week to tie in with Simon Says stamp Challenge blog Where this week it is "Anything but a card"
So I made this little hanging
I added paper to a piece of chipboard. Stamped the gorgeous ladies from The Artistic Stamper in black stazon. Then I added some copper thunder gilding flakes (I wanted to see what would happen when I used the rusted enamel technique!) I covered the plate with clear embossing powder and followed the technique as detailed in the book to enamel it. Though some of the gilding glue bubbled up I still like the effect!

Then, for the flower; those who visited me on WWYW wednesday will have seen the tub of copper gold and silver die cuts..... So the first lot were used today.


I stamped them with a leaf stamp in stazon before running through the embossing folders and layering up as seen so you get this lovely textured metal flower..... but guess what? They are not metal but self adhesive plastic (I found them at The Works for £1.99 for a 1,5m roll - what a bargain) I spent an evening adhering them to A4 card so now I have this lovely pile of "metal sheets" to play with.

I have found that the best folders to use to emboss them is the alterations ones as they give a really deep texture. I'll be trying out alcohol inks on them soon so watch this space.....

    Neil, you've knocked it out of the park again! This is really beautiful and looks like a fine, vintage work of art. The gilding is such a beautiful touch, and the rusted enamel looks amazing here. Love that spectacular flower hanger, too! My goodness, you're so talented!

    Just love those "metal" plastic flowers Neil and the beautifully elegant Grecian ladies very nice, and fascinating to read how you achieved it... and thanks for popping over to my blog and for your comments there too. I have taught a left-handed person ( and a male incidentally in grade 7) to do calligraphy he did it quite well too and my course was only for a school term of 10 weeks. However I will confess he had to muddle his way to a certain extent, I just told him the methodology, I could not help much in the application. We did use a book especially with instructions for left handed folk. If using pens you really need a left handed set.
    And if you ever decide I would be pleased to consider a verse for you..one day..

    Wow Neil! I haven't had a chance to blog hop in a while, and I see what I've been missing! Awesome work! I'm loving the entire project--this has got to be one of my favorites! Of course, I'm sure I'll say that again real soon. =)
